Longest Residents
Some of our dogs have been waiting far too long for a family to call their own. On this page, you'll meet the three longest residents of our shelter and learn a little about their stories. Salem

Baseball season is in full swing and ball-loving Salem is ready to slide into your home and heart! Coming in at a strapping 72 pounds, Salem is a one-ish-year old terrier mix who’s ready to trade the shelter dugout for a permanent spot on your roster. Salem’s ideal team consists of an active household with older children who have the patience and dedication to coach this big, lovable rookie all the way to the World Series. If you’re looking for an All-Star friend that will make every day a home run, you should meet Salem. Batter up! Don’t let this catch slip through your glove.
Smalls

- Does not really like going on walks. Exercise? Meh.

Smidge
SMIDGE, Intake 3-10-26, spayed terrier mx, ~2-3yo, 44#, FOUND on Adams St, Nelsonville.
Smidge came into the shelter wearing signs of previous neglect, but boy has she made progress! The day Smidge came in, she found comfort crawling into the lap of a volunteer. These days, she shows off her love of stuffies, and her ability to sit and shake. We think Smidge might be part bulldog, both because of her pocket sizing and because she wears out quickly in the heat. She is probably not a great fit for cats and would love a quiet home to soak up all the love.

Smide has undergone extra training with BARC and a family will be lucky to have a trained dog.

We just found out that Smide has stage 2 kidney disease which requires a special diet. Lucky for us, Smidge loves fruits and vegetables! Smidge’s sweet spirit continues to bring so much joy and love while radiating positivity, but we owe it to her to find a home to ensure comfort and rest.
